I Am From

I AM FROM

I am from the city of Champs,
where the Clam Chowdah is popular,
I am from the city where the sports fans go hard in the paint,
where the Charles River starts from Hopkinton and it ends at the Harbor,
I am from Boston, but am I really from Boston?
I was born in Boston but those make me from Boston?
I am from an island in the Caribbean,
Were the Puerto Rican flag represents our pride,
My parents are from that island, and my parents conceived me,
I carry their blood so it makes me a part of them,
So I am from were they came from,
They taught me the heritage and spoke about their parents struggles,
My mom died when I was ten and my pops worked two jobs,
So I grew up in the streets those that make me from the school of hard knocks,
I don't know where I am from,
I guess Yo soy de adonde mi hogar esta.

I'm From Me

I'm from where the streets mean to be mean,
to live life til your hearts bleed.
I'm from the last block in Roxbury, where the thugs
are bugs and the G's scream.
I'm from the first floor of the fiends, who live all day
shooting up and the fire alarm yell, waking up my daughter before  i leave.
I'm from here and there like the plastic bag that flows in the wind, and lands in the pool where the lady was found dead on her knees.

I'm from a small place called "HOME" that i share and clean with my BM even though we don't always agree.
I'm from white rice and Spanish beans to red kool-aid and icy treats.
I'm from tattoos and piercings to diaper changing and feeding, not to myself but for my teen who isn't even three.
I'm Puerto Rico, Arroyo and Rio Grande.
I'm from the "BEAN", all day is a fun day, just once a day never everyday.
I'm from where my feelings never get heard due to guns screams and kids fleeing.
I'm from "ME".

Where I'm From

"Where I'm From" by Stephanie P.

I am from the everyday sirens from the live streets of Dorchesterand the loud neighbors.I am from the dusty backyardwith no grass and toys thrown around.I am from the home sick feeling wheni'm far away from my mother'sperfume scent.

I am from the do's and don't
the don't give up, you'll do just fine
and the tender hugs to keep me safe.

I am from laughter and food
the tree picking fruits and the
sweet smell of plantains that keeps
my stomach full.

I am from imagination where i
use it to escape from pain
And even if i'm an adult i would
still use my imagination for freedom
and complete positive fate.

Curiosity vs. Priorities

It was a beautiful day outside, Hi my name is jack. This day was supposed to be one of the best days of my life, well it started the way. As I woke up this morning I was so excited because finally it was prom day, all I had to do was wake up shower, get a hair cut and get dressed. I didn’t have to worry about what to wear, about my hair or make-up, I would leave all of that to my date London. As the day went by I was headed to get a hair cut when my date called me freaking out because her dress was way too long, I had to calm her down a little because that was my job to do so he was a little bit clam then she told she needed me to go to her grandmother’s house to get her sewing machine so that’s her mother can fix the dress on time before prom. I felt so bad for the poor girl I couldn’t say no and or I would be going to prom by myself so I had to do what I had to do. So when I was done with my hair cut I would pick it up, the barbershop took more than I thought because there were so many people in there, when I finally got out I went home showered again cause I have been out all day and I got dress just in case I can’t make it back home from London’s house. London’s grandmother lived like an hour away so when I and my buddy Jimmy got there we just took the sewing machine and left. Then on our way back to the city there was this crime seen, it looked like an accident  had just happen so Jimmy and I stepped out of the car and the I realized I had the sewing machine in my hands. So I didn’t bother to put it back in the car, as Jimmy and I stood there watching the guy who just racked his deliver truck freaking out and yelling at the police saying it’s not his fault something must have had happen to his breaks. Jimmy and I was talking trying to figure out what has happen, then I got a text from London asking me where was I, I have total forgotten about her so I told her I got the machine and I was on my way to her house, she didn’t believe me so I told Jimmy to take a picture of my so I cant sent it to her. When I was put my phone away the cops and the guy was still there, and there was another person watching beside me and Jimmy. I’m guessing he was going for a run or something. We were there for a while, then finally the cops cuffed him so that the can bring him to the station to test him for alcohol because to them he look really drank. Jimmy and I finally got to London’s house she was so mad at us but we explained to her what happen it looked like she wanted to kill us. But as for all of that she got her dress fixed on time then we were off to prom of course after all of the picture were taken.

Lies Hidden Behind

On a cloudy Thursday afternoon, Helga and Phillip are taking a walk in the beautiful park of Russia when they see Cristina and Anna. Cristina and Anna were Helga’s friends from high school. They all live in the same neighborhood and even went to her and Phillip’s wedding. Cristina and Anna always envied her; they pretend to be her friend because she came from a wealthy family.  When she married Phillip, Helga began to see her friend’s true colors and they stopped being friends.
On that cloudy afternoon while enjoying the beautiful view of the famous Russian park, the couple runs into the girls. Cristina began to verbally abuse Helga. Helga did not think twice and threw the first punch. Phillip began to help his wife out by also hitting Cristina. Then in comes Anna to help Cristina. They continued on fighting and verbally insulting each other. Phillip was trying to grab his wife so they can keep it moving, and he calls the police. While trying to hold his wife back and the girls from trying to hit her, Helga takes off her shoes Cristina grabs one of her shoes and throws it at her nose which gave her a bloody nose. Phillip kicks Cristina as if she was a man. They began to give the public a show and got a crowd. Anna begins to realize that they were not going to get anywhere so she starts grabbing Cristina so they can leave. She began to pull her away and as they were leaving, Cristina shouted out “Phillip cheated on you with me in our senior year.” Helga gasps, police arrive.

Best Saturday of My Life

Peter was left alone at home while his parents were away for the weekend. He had to cook for himself and keep the house clean, so it was a Saturday night it was about dinner time and he decided he would make dinner for himself. So he took out the only thing he thought he could cook which was frozen food, he tried to make it but it didn’t come out the way he wanted but he still wanted to try it since he had no choice, but before he starts with his dinner he pulled out a bottle of alcohol and poured in to a cup of glass and mixed it with a coke. As he started to take a bite of his dinner, he couldn't eat it because it was still frozen so he decided he would just take a couple of more drinks so he did. 20 minutes later he was kind a out of it, he was not himself so he decided he would just take his pants off since he wanted to get loose and just leave his underwear’s and t-shirt, he turned on the radio and started singing and dance his heart out. Then he soon pasted out and the next day he woke up with the worst hangover ever.

March 17, 1997

Once upon a time, in a magical land called South Boston, my brother and I were in my mom’s living room playing karate. My mother hates (to this day) when we play fight in our house. So as we continue to fight, my mother calls me to stop fighting and as soon as I turn around, my brother Chris kicks me square in the chest and I go flying onto a glass table. As soon as that happened, we go running into our little brother’s room and slam the door shut. Chris insists that we go check the situation, but I tell him “are you crazy, do you not hear her screaming”? In my mind I thought she was yelling because we broke the table, but in reality she wanted to check if I was alright (and for good reason). I finally begin to peek, and as I do I get this massive headache like someone just kicked me onto a glass table. I reach back to grab my head and as soon as I pull my arm around, there is this huge pool of blood in my hand. I freak out and go running to my mom who sees it and goes all out. She immediately grabs her coat and has us get in the car as we speed off to Children’s Hospital. We finally arrive after what felt like an eternity, and we wait in the emergency room for exactly 1 hour until the doctor comes to get me. My worst fears come true as the doctor tells my mother that I have to get 4 staples on the back of my head without anesthesia (sulk). So as I prepare myself, my brother gets this sudden realization of this is his fault. I lay down on the hospital as my mom and brother hold me down. When the procedure is finished, I get bandaged up and sent home after only 2 hours at the hospital. The next year and a half were the worst because I couldn’t really get my scar wet, I couldn’t play around and I got special treatment which I hated. June 6, 1999 my staples finally come off and I am excited to get back to my life. To this day every time I get a haircut, I can feel the scar and I get reminded of how I still need to get back at my brother, but only time will tell when I get my exact revenge.
