Cold Winter Nights
I wake up to the
screams of my youngest son and the sound of rain. I look at my watch to see
what time it is and that’s when I remember. Yesterday morning it was snowing
heavily and I didn’t notice the ice on the floor, I had slipped and fell and as
I smack the floor so does my watch on my left wrist and my bracelet also snaps
in two. As I walked back home disappointed and angry I had completely forgotten
the reason why I left my house in the first place. A note slipping out my left
pocket with the words Bottle and Food underlined and capitalized had caught my
attention so I rushed back to the store grabbed what I needed and left. Now as
the clouds in the sky disappear and the snow turns to sleet, the only thing I can
think about in this frantically cold and ominous night, is what do I have to
eat in my freezer or fridge because "God, I'm Starving!"
